Summer Term

D Collage  (Vikings)

Unit Covers:

·          Craft, Design, 2D, collaborative work, line, colour, pattern, texture, shape, collage

Purpose:

·          Invest ideas

·          Cut complex shapes from a range of materials with some accuracy.

·          Work as a member of a group to produce a single collage.

·          Cooperative discussion

Task:

Make a simple copy of the Gotland Memorial Stone - showing a Viking warrior riding to Valhalla and a Viking long ship.

Activity:

1.        Look at pictures of figures, ships, patterns and discuss how this could be incorporated into a group design.

2.        Choose appropriate materials for each part of design.

3.        Construct collage.

4.        Display results.

Assessment:

·          Are the children working co-operatively?

·          Does everyone in the group contribute?
