Spring Term 

F Textiles

Unit Covers:

·          Art, craft, 3D, individual work, colour, pattern, texture, shape, form, textiles

Purpose:

·          Investigate ideas

·          Cut and apply fabrics and threads with some accuracy.

·          Weave using a wide range of fabric strips and threads.

Task:

·          Make a woven ‘basket’.

Activity:

1.        Cut a large circle from card. Cut into sun-shape.

2.        Select various fabric strips, threads, wool's etc.

3.        Weave strips around cut-out, pulling up sides into basket shape.

 

 

Assessment:

·          Can they weave?

·          Can they introduce their own pattern?

Vocabulary opportunities with words / phrases related to:

·          Visual & tactile qualities – textured, knobbly, rough

·          Making skills – cutting, weaving

·          Composition – colours, lines, contrasting
